An extra help

Hello friends!

Today we are going to continuous about the topic which we are talking. I would like to know that exist an extra help for this special childrens. Here I will give you some information.

An education, health and care (EHC) plan is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support.

EHC plans identify educational, health and social needs and set out the additional support to meet those needs.

You can ask your local authority to carry out an assessment if you think your child needs an EHC plan, here some aspect that are necessary:

1. Anyone at your child's school
2. A doctor
3. A health visitor
4. A nursery worker

Once that you propose the EHC assesment, your local authority has 6 weeks to decide whether or not to carry. If they decide to carry out an assessment you may be asked for:

1. Any reports from your child's school, nursery or childminder.
2. Doctor's assessments of your child
3. A letter from you about your child's needs.

Now, you will ask yourself, how can you create a EHC plan, well here you have the steps that you have to follow:

1. Your local authority will create a draft EHC plan ans send you a copy.
2. You have 15 days to comment, including if you want to ask that your children goes to a specialist needs school or specialist college.
3. Your local authority has 20 weeks from the date of the assessment to give you the final EHC plan.

If your local authority does not to carry on  and you cannot resolve the problem, you can appeal to the special educational needs and disability tribunal.

An important thing that you can take into account is that you may be able to get a personal budget for your children if they have education, health and care, but it allows you have to say in how to spend the money on support for your children. There are three ways:

1. Direct payments: you buy and manage services yourself
2. An arrangement with your local authority or school, and they hold the money.
3. Third-party arrangements: you choose someone else to manage the money for you.

Anyway you can have a combination of all 3 points.

Hope that this information will be useful and you can know a little more about this topic.
