Using ICT to support pupils with Special Educational Needs

We are going to be Bilingual Primary Teachers and some pupils in our classes may have problems in accessing the curriculum due to LD in:

                                Reading

                                         Writing

                                                Spelling

                              Numeracy

ICT can, in many cases, help to alleviate these problems.

When a child finds handwriting difficult or, even, impossible the use of a keyboard might enable them to record their work for easily. Speech to text software is readily available now and has a high rate of accuracy.

If there is a child with visual problems, we can help him or her with coloured screens and fonts. They, if necessary, could be aggrandized.

Software programs are useful for those learning difficulties. It not only means they are using the same program as their peers, but also they can set themselves targets to work towards. These programs are bright and attractive and they make use of multimedia, which appeals to those who need stimulus from more than one sense. They can be used regularly for reinforcement as often as a child needs in order to grasp the concept.

We can visit a website in which some ict examples of reading and numeracy games using ICT are exposed. If you want to probe them, click here!
Also, a list of software program examples are shown in this link: http://www.edulibre.info/software-educativo-libre-o

Using the computer with pupils who have emotional or behavioral difficulties can allow them to have periods in a non-threatening environment where they are likely to be more motivated and less likely to fail.

Now, it will be useful to see the videos that we present below in order to give us a conclusion or as the way to make us capable to establish a conclusion.
